American Racer East Coast Modified Cup Overall Title Scenarios Entering The Final Weekend of Competition.
Monday, September 6th will be used as the final day of competition in the event any tracks rain out this Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
Three drivers remain in the hunt for the American Racer Cup East Coast Modified Overall Title. They are Duane Howard (Grandview 795), Craig VonDohren (Grandview 795) and Stewart Friesen (Five Mile Point 790).
The American Racer East Coast Modified Cup has been based on a driver’s BEST 12 finishes at their home weekly track. The following scenarios will determine the first ever Overall Champion.
Craig VonDohren will win the overall American Racer title outright with a victory at Grandview this Saturday. If Duane Howard wins at Grandview – VonDohren must finish 2nd to ensure a tie between the two in the overall standings. Each would have 8 feature wins so they would be “Co-Champions”. (The tie breaker for the overall title is feature wins). A second place finish for VonDohren ensures him of at least a tie for the overall title.
Duane Howard will win the overall American Racer title if he wins the Grandview feature on Saturday and Craig VonDohren finishes third or worse.
Stewart Friesen can win the overall American Racer title if he wins the Five Mile Point Speedway feature on Saturday and Duane Howard finishes second or worse at Grandview and Craig VonDohren finishes third or worse at Grandview. The three drivers would each have 795 points but Friesen would win the tie breaker with 10 feature wins at Five Mile Point Speedway.
The overall American Racer East Coast Modified Cup Champion will be paid $10,000. Both Stewart Friesen and Duane Howard have the opportunity to capitalize on a potential $20,000 bonus should either won win the overall American Racer East Coast Modified Cup and the Race of Champions Dart Dirt Modified Tour Title.
